Chamaeleo:

Regarding your comment about Bacewicz:

1. On my other blog there is a post with two of her Piano quintets and two string quartets. It's not violin music as such, but those works are very characteristic of her style.

2. I don't know your e-mail, but if you email me through my profile, I can send you some other orchestral music by Bacewicz (including the 1st violin concerto). I could send low quality mp3 files to make it faster, just so you would get an idea.

Her 1st violin concerto is from 1937, so it's a youthful work (she was born in 1909) and her style developed after the war but again you can get the idea of the music. There are also samples of the CD on Chandos.

Lastly, I don't know Joanna Kurkowicz, never heard of her in my life...

What I DO know is that Ɓukasz Borowicz is a very good, enthusiastic and skilled young conductor and the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra plays very well under his direction.

I'm listening to the Chandos sample just now and to my unqualified violinistic ears it sounds quite reasonable :-)

Who else, apart from the mighty Horacio could be preparing a post devoted to G. Bacewicz?
